Surgeon's First Review

Following is a letter to Tara's GP from her Surgeon, dated 11 March 2010:

Dear Dr Nalletamby

Diagnosis:
    Posterior fossa pilocytic astrocytoma resected August 2009

I reviewed Tara today after her recent scan. We have gone through the scans in our MDT setting and the tumour cyst is much smaller. The volume of the tumour is much decreased but there remains an area of enhancement around the rim of the tumour, which may be growing tumour, but could be fibrosis on the clotting tissue. I have organised a new scan for three to four months time and will review her with the films in due course. Obviously, if the tumour carries on growing, she may need a further resection.
