An Inquiry Into Tara's Case

A couple of weeks back I forwarded a history of Tara's case to her local MP, David Lepper. I relayed to David my concern that her GP, a doctor at A&E and an Optometrist all failed to diagnose the seriousness of Tara's symptoms, and I hoped that he could conduct a review of the case so that lessons could be learned.

Today I received a phone call from Jane Bolding, Patient and Public Engagement Manager at the NHS, Brighton & Hove. David Lepper had been in contact, and an inquiry into Tara's case is to take place.

I'm very pleased. Perhaps I shouldn't get my hopes up too far, but the outcome I would wish for is an awareness that there are some symptoms that need to be taken seriously. Children do not squint, stop walking, vomit and have headaches without Neurological Disorder. If that knowledge can become more widespread amongst front line medical staff, then the result will be a better service for everyone.

I'll wait and see what happens......
